It is essential to remember that not all sites-and-services schemes built under
the BUDP were identical. For example, for the Gorai location spread over
three sectors and covering an area of over 100 hectares, the cluster layout
contains a similar mix of unit types and sizes as the ones found in Charkop
and Versova, with the 40 square metre dwelling plots lined along the 9-metre-
wide streets and the smaller 25 square metre units on the interior. However.
the T-shaped internal courtyards in Gorai contain two distinct types for the
EWS: the basic 25 sqm plots and a slightly larger version where the plots are
30 sqm in size. Like the other LISP schemes. Nearly 70 percent of the plots
are provided for the EWS and LIGs, with the MIG accounting for about 5 per
cent and the remaining 25 percent earmarked for the larger society plots.
